Pelican Roost RV Park, Mayport MWR, FL - 5 Motorcycles
This is one of the two beautiful campgrounds located on this naval base. Active service members, retirees, 100% DAV's, and members of the DoD are welcomed here. Read the complete review by following the link above or going to the archives section of our blog. It was reviewed on September 8, 2014. This is an active base, so it does get a bit noisy at times. We loved watching the ships going in and out of the harbor.

- Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina, Big Pine Key - 2.5 Motorcycles
- For information and photos of this campground, please follow the link above to our blog post. This campground gets 2.5 motorcycles because what we saw in their online photos is not what we got. One thing I failed to put in the blog post was regarding the WiFi. It was terrible at our campsite even when I made the mistake of purchasing data on top of having the 'free wifi'. Don't waste your money.

Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort, Hilton Head Island, SC - 4.5 Motorcycles
After a few weeks of down time in Florida, we hit the road for what was supposed to be one week on Hilton Head, then onto Norfolk to visit with our son and his wife before we headed to Myrtle Beach and the Golden Isles in Georgia, Mother Nature had other ideas.
There are two beautiful RV parks on Hilton Head Island, Hilton Head Motorcoach Resort and Hilton Head RV & Marina. As we were not familiar with either one, we chose the former.
Everything started well. We took advantage of their "first time special", which was basically pay for part of your visit, get a few days free. This is a park that sells RV spaces to individuals who then rent them out to others through the front office. As I said, all was well to begin with. Unfortunately during our stay, very heavy rains hit the area. They were so bad, I-95 was actually closed. We went to the office to extend our stay for a few days because we were basically stranded as we couldn't get to Norfolk, We also wanted to give the DOT time to check out bridges that had been involved in the flooding. So, off we went to the office. This is where it started getting confusing. This park honors FMCA memberships - we have one. However, we were not allowed a discount on either of what turned out to be two extensions, because we had booked our first week as a special. Okay, that was mildly irritating, but we could kind of understand that. However, when we had to extend a second time, we really felt we were being taken advantage of. By the time we left, we had stayed another full week. Now, every other park where we stayed would have re-worked things and given us a weekly rate. HH Motorcoach Resort did not. We were told their "system" wouldn't allow that. So, not only did we have to pay the daily rate for a total of 7 nights, we were not allowed any other discounts, We asked them to check us out, then check us back in and were told, "Nope, can't do that." The looks Rich and I exchanged said more than words. So, keep this all in mind if you stay at this park. Chose one discount and know that you won't get another. As it was, we ended up paying basically the same as what folks who stay here for a month pay, except we were only there two weeks. While we give the park high marks on everything from the beauty of the park, location, etc., they lost points because they wouldn't work with us, especially since we were between a rock and a hard place. We would go back to this park; however, we'll go back with our eyes wide open. The park still gets 4.5 Motorcycles out of 5.

Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort, Clermont, FL- 1 Motorcycle
In January 2016, we were only able to stay two weeks at Thousand Trails Orlando (TTO). However, we learned that the Encore park a few miles from TTO was an overflow park for TTO. Depending on the Thousand Trails membership you have, this means the Encore park must accept you free of charge. Because we have an Elite Connections membership and are entitled to this benefit, we reserved a site at Encore’s Clerbrook Golf and RV Resort weeks in advance of our arrival. Upon our arrival at the park, we were given a map showing us which site we were to use, nothing else. We had to find the site without further assistance from anyone. When we found it, we were astounded. Rather than give us one of the available sites that would have been very easy for us to get into, we were given one that, according to long-term campers, was NEVER used for campers. It was used as a storage site. We were able to jockey onto the site, and since we were only going to be there for a few days, we didn’t complain. We did return to the check-in hut the next day. It was now being run by a mature woman who apologized for the way we were treated at check-in.
A few days later, we left Clerbrook, vowing never to return or recommend this park to anyone. Of course, if you’re a full-time resident there or someone who visits this park on a regular basis, you probably have a positive viewpoint. We don’t. Despite the fact Rich had played golf at this park numerous times prior to our staying there, we felt we were treated very poorly. Fortunately, the treatment we received at this park is not typical of other Encore parks where we have stayed. I’ll cover more about various Encore parks in other posts. The photo in this review was taken with a wide-angle lens. We were unable to open our awning as it would have been an inconvenience for the neighbors to our right. Read more about our experience at this park in our blog posts.

Bay Landing, Bridgeport, TX - 4.5 Motorcycles
One of our favorite campgrounds! This is a Thousand Trails/NACO/Encore park that is open to the public. The drawback is the limited number of full-service sites, hence the 4.5 rating. Currently, the majority of sites are 30 amp with water. They are adding more 50 amp sites, but they can't add sewers due to the rocks below the campground. We have always been fortunate to get a site in Section 3, where the full-service 50 amp sites are located. There is a dump station or you can make reservations for the honey wagon to visit your site. There are cabins available to rent and also primitive campsites. They are improving the facilities slowly, but surely. The staff gets 5 Motorcycles all the way! The showers and other facilities are clean as a whistle, even if they need updating. If you don't like them, shower in your RV. There is a separate Adult Center - no one under 18 is allowed in it. That's nice! Bay Landing is located on Lake Bridgeport. Tell them the RV'ing Bikers sent you! http://www.rvonthego.com/texas/bay-landing-rv-campground/

- USA RV Park, Gallup, NM - 5 Motorcycles
A privately-owned park that honors active military members by allowing them to camp for free. It honors veterans with a military discount. All sites are pull-through and full service.. The facilities are neat and well maintained. We were there in early April 2014, hence the snow on the ground. We returned in April 2015 and were still impressed with this fantastic campground. The staff is superior! In 2014 when they learned we were out of milk and only had our motorcycle, which we didn't want to take off the trailer, they volunteered to go to the store for us. That's service.
We originally pulled this campground out of our hat in 2014 because we needed a place to stop due to the high winds on I-40. I don't know that we'd stay here long-term, but it was perfect for our needs. We would definitely stop there again. Verde Valley Campground, Cottonwood, AZ - 4.5 Motorcycles
This is an absolutely stunning campground! It was our base park for several weeks as we explored Central Arizona. The entrance is a mile off the highway; our campsite was another mile from the entrance. The terrain was beautiful - prairies and canyon walls. The sites had grass - a big plus - many had trees. There were a lot of pull-through sites; some were back-in. There were cabins and tent sites. The facilities were clean and well-maintained. We'll definitely be going back to this park. http://www.ttverdevalley.com/
Some additional RV parks in Coconino National Forest area
We can't vouch for any of the following campgrounds as we didn't stay at them.
